Pensacola - The Naval Air Station put Pensacola at the forefront of aviation, but its climate makes almost anything possible. From 5K runs to marathons. Golfing. Parasailing. Fishing. Sun worshiping or shopping. The National Museum of Naval Aviation. Civil War Soldiers Museum. And free jazz at the Pavilion. From mullet-tossing to wine-tastings, there's plenty of culture. Plus miles of unspoiled white sand guarded by the remains of Fort Pickens and Fort McRee.

Civil War Soldiers Museum
PENSACOLA Pass through the Museum Gift Shop and you'll discover what it was like to serve in the great armies and navies of the Union and Confederacy. The Civil War Soldiers Museum was founded in 1991, and exhibits the private collection of Dr. Norman W. Haines, Jr., a local physician, who began collecting as a boy near the Antietam Battlefield. Experience what it was like to serve during the Civil War. The Museum's diverse collection offers wonderful insights into our nation's rich history. The Pensacola Room highlights the contributions of Stephen R. Mallory, the renowned Confederate Secretary of Navy, and the handmade First National Confederate flag captured by Wilson's New York Zouaves during the Battle of Santa Rosa Island, October 9, 1861.
